5.Illegals Program:


The 'Illegals Program' was a covert Russian plot to infiltrate U.S government circles with Russian sleeper agents in 1990s. Agents assumed stolen identities and enmeshed themselves into the 'American' life to create a legend of being western citizens.They were tasked by the Moscow center to report back to US Foreign policy,internet security and military intelligence and passed back messages hidden in digital photographs,used disappearing ink and conducted clandestine bag swaps. At least 10 people were identified as a part of the program including Anna Chapman,who was placed in NYC.Chapman was caught by an undercover FBI double agent posing to be her Russian handler in Operation Ghost Stories.She was arrested along with her conspirators in 2010 and later exchanged for 4 U.S. agents who were imprisoned in Russia.Details later emerged that the program intended to go deeper so far as to teach the U.S. born children of the agents to be spies.

4. Dept.12 ,DIR S.:



The KGB's highly secretive Department 12 of Directorate S was supposedly focused on acquiring biological warfare secrets and it allegedly penetrated U.S Government to steal deadly pathogens for the soviet stockpile.It is believed that Department 12 infiltrated Fort Detrick ,rumored site of an undeclared Bioweapons facility and Dr.Alexander Kouzminov , former KGB agent claimed packages of 'live biological samples' were sent to Moscow each month.He recalled mysterious circumstances around the death of two people who regularly handled the packages.He also claimed the use of Dead Drops to hide weapons of mass destruction on foreign soil to be used in event of war.

3.John Walker:


Path of the 'most damaging Soviet spy ring in history'  US Navy officer John Anthony Walker worked as a KGB spy  from 1968-1985 . In 1968 Walker sold a radio cipher card to the Soviets,supplying half of the answers to decipher encrypted naval communication.A month later a North Korea captured the USS Pueblo,a navy surveillance vessel to obtain its onboard cipher for the USSR.Now armed with cipher cards and machine,the Soviets were able to decipher 2 million messages over the span of two decades. It is thought that the Soviets were aware of where all the US Submarines were during this span.When asked how he was able to access such classified content,he replied, 'Kmart has better security than the Navy'.

2. Aldrich Ames:


Aldrich Ames was a CIA operative and analyst before becoming a mole for the Russia and Soviet Union from 1985-1993.Despite a reputation of excessive drinking and an incident of him leaving a briefcase containing classified information on the subway,Ames' promotion gave him access to plans of CIA and operations of CIA against KGB and Soviet Military Intelligence.Facing mounting debts accrued by a Colombian mistress,Ames turned to selling CIA secrets to the KGB,earning $4.6 million.Compromising more US secrets than any mole in US history, he ID'd at least 10 top level FBI spies who had disappeared. Ames was finally caught when he had purchased a $500k house and a $50k sports car which raised suspicions in the CIA. It was determined he had compromised over 100 spy missions on his way to become the highest paid spy in history.

1.Robert Hanssen:


Robert Hanssen was an FBI agent and Soviet and Russian informant from 1979-2011 using the code name 'Ramon Garcia'.He revealed a secret Russian spy tunnel beneath the Russian embassy and outed a Soviet general as a CIA asset leading to his execution.Throughout 22 years of espionage, Hanssen gave a list of American double agents,utilizing an old-fashioned drop system in which he would leave secret documents and return to collect $1.4 million in cash payments. At one point he was put in charge on examining FBI leaks which he himself committed, allowing him to cover up his tracks. Hanssen was only caught when FBI paid a former KGB agent $7 million for the Soviet case file on 'Ramon Garcia'. When arrested, Hanssen reportedly asked 'What took you so long?'

  1. The Russian sleeper agents weren't only just exchanged for imprisoned Americans, they were exhanged in broad daylight in one of Nevada's airports. For all to see.
