10 Secret Places hidden in Famous Locations!

As kids we would explore our surroundings looking for secret entrances and hidden places.As we grew up many of us stopped believing in these while others kept looking.So. here are 10 secret places hidden in famous locations:


1.John F Kennedy Intl. Airport:


Anyone who has ever travelled from or to JFK International Airport must have noticed a terminal with sloping roofs and giant windows.This is the Trans World Airline[TWA] Flight Center.It first opened in 1961 and had a lounge and a bar.However when TWA went out of business in 2001 it was shut down and closed off.There were talks about opening it as an Aviation Museum,a Conference Center or perhaps even a hotel.But it continued to be a mystery to the people passing by until parts of it were taken over by other airlines.

2.DisneyLand:

Its places like DisneyLand which let us free our inner child.But they seem to realize that we need some adult time after being surrounded by swarms or screaming little ones.This is where Club33 walks in.Hidden near the 'Pirates of the Caribbean' ride there is a nondescript door with nothing but 33 written on it.This is the Executive members only section that you may join for $10,000 plus an annual free of $3500.Its also the only place in the park that serves alcohol.


3.Eiffel Tower:

Though it received a not so warm welcome at its debut in 1889,the tower that Gustave Eiffel had built is a world renowned landmark.Located in Paris,France,it 'll be hard to find people who cannot identity this. However what many people don't realize is that there is a luxury apartment at the top of it.Contrary to the bare structure outside the apartment is fully furnished ,wallpapered and carpeted.Most people did not know it existed until it was opened to the public in 2015.

4.Grand Central Station:

Every single day more than 750,000 people rush in and out of the Grand Central Station in NYC.Despite this fact many of them do not know about the hidden platform beneath their feet.Though it does not have a secret train to the wizard school or something it did serve an important purpose.When the Waldorf-Astoria was first built guests arrived through the Grand Central Station.In 1929 they decided to build a special station for high profile hotel guests.So they avoid the hustle and bustle of the station.It opened in 1938 but was not in operation by the 1960s.Today it remain closed and off limits to public.


5.Niagara Falls:

While Niagara is most famous for the amazing waterfall there it also has a dark secret.There is a small limestone cave off to the side of Niagara gorge down the road from the falls called the 'Cave of Evil Spirits'.The seneca Indians have a legend telling the tale of the evil spirit trapped inside more than 300 years ago.So if anyone were to enter the cave and encounter the spirit they would face a lifetime of misfortune.It is located in the aptly named 'Devil's hole trail park'.

6.Empire State Building:

Standing at 1250 ft the Empire State Building is the 4th tallest building in the USA.It has 102 floors if you are among the general population.However there is an outdoor observatory on the 103rd floor offering a panoramic view of NYC.This hidden top floor has none of the safety features installed on the lower observation decks and is reserved for celebs and high paying observers.The only hint of this people see is the numerous celeb pictures on the top deck on the second floor of the building.

7.Harvington Hall:

In Worcestershire,England there is a beautiful and well known manor called 'Harvington Hall'.It was built by Humphrey Packington in the 1580s and was later outfitted with secret hiding places known as 'Priest-Hides'.During this time in Britain's history it was considered high treason to practice Catholicism.There were  hiding places built within this manor to escape from the agents of Queen Elizabeth I.The Priest Hides were so successful that none of the priests hidden here were ever discovered.

8.Times Square:

Roughly 37 million people visit the Times Square in NYC every year.It is the second most visited tourist attraction in the world attracting people with its bright lights and entertainment.However many tend to overlook the 25 story building which serves as the main billboard.Originally built in 1904 to be the HQ of NYTimes,it became vacant in 1992.Rather than searching for new tenants they decided to sell the exterior of the building as advertising space.The large screen give out a bright revenue or 23 million $ each year! despite having no tenants except on the New Year's Ball.


9.Disneyworld:

Walt Disney World consists of 'Animal Kingdom','Hollywood Studios','Epcot' and 'Magic Kingdom'.But what many people do not know about is 'Discovery Land',built in 1974 and dubbed 'Treasure Island' and the name was found to be misleading as it had nothing to do with pirates.The island housed a small animal observatory before Animal Kingdom was built in 1999.It was closed shortly afterwards and forgotten until 2009,when an urban explorer swam to investigate this overgrown abandoned park.

10.Mount Rushmore:

While the original design was much more elaborate for Mt.Rushmore,the final product was quite impressive.Located in Keystone,South Dakota,it depicts the heads of George Washington,Thomas Jefferson,Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln.Though it is visited by 1000s of people each year only a few notice the secret behind it.The designer of the monument Gutzon Borglum wanted to build a 'Hall of Records' into the side of the mountain,which was meant to contain important US Documents such as that of The Declaration Of Independence.Unfortunately he passed away in 1941 and the project ground to a halt.His work was eventually completed in 1998 however when the US government installed a sealed titanium vault inside the cavern to house a copy of the documents.
