9 Humans Preserved in Time!!

When a person dies,he/she goes through a traditional method of body preservation such as embalming or simply cremated and turned to ash. But the people in this list had taken an alternate route.....

1.John Torrington:


22 year old John was a petty officer for the Franklin Expedition to the Arctic Circle in around 1945.The expedition was a failure and the entire crew was lost including Officer John Torrington, who died of lead poisoning and was buried in the frozen tundra at the camp site. When his frozen body was exhumed in 1980,scientists were left startled,the ice had melted and they saw John staring right back at them! Besides his lips and eyes being shriveled his body was perfectly preserved.



2.St.Bernadette:

Born in Lourdes,France in 1844, Bernadette reported seeing apparitions of the Virgin Mary on a regular basis.In 1879 she died of tuberculosis aged just 35 years old.In 1909 Bernadette was being canonized so her body was being exhumed and was found to be incorrupt.In 1919 her body was exhumed again and was again found in great condition despite some mould and mummification happening.In 1925 she was found to still be in great condition and her ribs were sent to the Vatican.After moulds were taken off her face,wax casts were placed and her body was placed on display in the chapel of St.Bernadette where she still lays as if she is sleeping.

3.La Doncella:

La Doncella is the name of the body of a 15 year old girl who died about 500 years ago.After she and two other children were the victims of an Inca sacrifice to the sun god and left to freeze to death.Her frozen body was found,perfectly preserved and looking at it ,feels like she is simply sleeping.After lab testing,scientists found her system contained a mix of herbs which induced heavy sleeping.Despite being over 500 years old,she looks like an average teenage girl from current times.Besides some grey hair in her braids indicating her life was stressful.

4.Vladimir Lenin:

The preservation of Lenin's body is the result of some mad science.Lenin is considered to be the father of Russian Communism.After his death,the government wanted to take extreme measures to preserve his body.His organs were removed and were replaced with a humidifier and a pump [to maintain body temp.],his body went through regular embalmings and injections to ensure it looked like he was just asleep.

5.Dashi Dorzho Itigilov:

Dashi Dorzho Itigilov was a Russian-Buddhist monk who died in the Lotus Position mid-chant in 1927.He was buried soon in the robes he had died in and in the position that he had died in just as he had wished.In 1955 his body was exhumed by monks and found out it hadn't deteriorated.In 1973 the body was exhumed again and yet it was found in a similar state.The Buddhist Conference declared it a sacred relic and placed outside in a sacred shrine where it remains today.

6.George Mallory:


In 1924 George Mallory and his partner Andrew Irwin attempted to be the first ones to the summit of Mt.Everest,the tallest mountain in the world.The pair was last seen 800 m below the summit and their only evidence of their existence is an empty oxygen tank and an axe.But in 1999,an expedition sponsored by BBC and Nova resulted in the discovery of George Mallory lying only 700 ft from his axe. The broken rope around his waist suggested that the rope broke and the axe punctured his forehead.His body is prefectly preserved with only his clothes in tatters due to the wind.

7.See Uey:

See Uey was once Thailand's most notorious serial killer who killed numerous children and sometimes ate their remains.His reputation evolved into a ghost story so the kids wouldn't stay out late or the ghost of See Uey would eat them.See was eventually bought to justice and was hanged for his actions.Instead of burying his body,the Thai government filled it with Paraffin wax [WHY ON EARTH WOULD YOU DO THAT??!?] and put it on display at a forensic museum.

8.Lady Xin Zhui:

The body of Lady Xin Zhui is considered to be the best preserved body till date.Her body is still soft to touch,her limbs are bendy and there is blood in her veins,her organs are intact including her brain!and guess what,she died 2000 years ago!,she was once married to Marquis of Han Dynasty and her preserved remains allowed doctors to take a complete medical profile.

9.Rosalia Lambardo:


Known as sleeping beauty and one the best preserved mummies in the italian catacombs.She died in 1920 and her father Official Mario Lambardo was so devastated that he approached an Italian embalmer named Alfredo Salafia to preserve her body.Using a mixture of alcohol,glycerin,salts and salicylic acid,her body is preserved so well that she looks like she is sleeping even to this day!X-rays have shown her organs although shrunken are still intact.Her body is the most famous to be visited in the Italian catacombs.
